All aboard

On Sunday we got a train ride on the famous Polar Express that is here for the Christmas Season, in Portland Maine

Have to make sure you have your golden ticket!

The Train is exactly run on coal and steam!






The Train was all decorated for the holidays!



A little silly fun and we head to the North Pole!



Some Merry Elves served us hot chocolate and cookies!

And a surprise visit from Santa!

At the end each child is given a Silver Bell, just like the story..It was a great time and I think it will be apart of our holiday traditions!

Pineland Farms

On Tuesday we met up with some family and headed over to Pineland farms. A large working farm that has a ton of kids programs

That day was TRACTOR DAY!

With cousin Issac

Mia is a super gear head

There were pigs, cows, chickens, bunnies, and goats to play with

They had an awesome time.

Jamming

Thanks to a great berry season, I was able to start being the hippie homesteader freak that I dream about, and start making JAM, these blackberries came from the in laws plants and we also had enough to make WINE.

First step is to crush the berries, Mia had an awesome time with this part

Adding sugar and pectin, you boil it down till it makes a syrup...and put into sterilized glass mason jars




Once the jam was in the jars, they were dipped in boiling water again to seal the lids, we made about 15 JARS, of super yummy jam goodness.

A year in reverse, Part 1

A lot has gone on, and I have neglected this blog a little, so I have decided to tell a tale a bit in reverse.
August celebrates a bit of an anniversary..well and actual one as Craig and I have been married now for 5 years..but the other one, is has now been a year since we made a big leap and moved to Maine.

This post is a all about the house that little by little we are working on making into a home.

We moved to Windham, on a 1.8 acre lot, that hopefully one day will have chickens, for now we settle for a swing set.
This is the front, I do not have a great pic of the back yet.

The house was a foreclosure and need a bit..ok a LOT of TLC, we repainted just about every thing that was standing still, most of the walls were a various shade of awful brown..the rest of the pics of us moving

I will take some pictures of what it looks like now, a bit more lived in but not really decorated..oh and there is one more bedroom
This room now belongs to a big surprise..Her name is Margo.

and Just to give you a hint of what our first winter here was like, this was taken out the front window.

It has been a whirlwind which I why I decided to update this in parts.Part 2 is coming soon...
